I focus on helping businesses align their organisation with the strategy, and help their people perform better whilst at the same time being personally fulfilled.  I believe that organisations perform a critical role in modern society, providing both meaningful work for their employees as well as useful and valuable services to their customers (profitably or cost effectively depending on the sector).

I have an unusual combination of skills, being highly data literate, analytical and conceptual as well as having coaching skills and behavioural change insight. (A mathematician with coaching skills!)  Coupling these with extensive business experience and knowledge I am able to dig below the surface to find the key points of leverage in organisational issues gathering robust evidence to support my thinking, and draw on the latest thinking and evidence-base to identify proportionate, pragmatic, best fit solutions.

I have a broad background in business, having run my own business, been on the management teams of businesses turning over £60m (general insurance) and £10m (management consultancy) and been principal consultant at a leading not-for-profit research institute. I have provided advice, consultancy and coaching to organisations of all sizes in public, private and voluntary sectors.

I like exploring new ideas (I'm a Myers Briggs INTP) and finding ways to help people learn and make use of them. I am currently working with some of the leading thinkers and practitioners taking positive psychology, coaching and strengths focused approaches into organisations. I am a certified NLP Coach and a Licensed Master Practitioner of NLP. 

I have over twenty five years successful experience in business, currently Principal Consultant at the Institute for Employment Studies (IES), a not-for-profit organisation focused on improving the quality of HR and people management.  Previously I was a Partner and member of the Executive Board of the UK Division of a European consulting firm responsible for People Development and HR. Prior to this I was a member of the management team of a leading edge subsidiary of Royal Insurance with responsibility for strategy and planning.

I have a degree in Maths with Engineering, an MSc in Operational research and a Postgraduate Certificate in Intelligent Systems.
